Jeremiah Barnes is a writer, educator, performance artist, and literacy advocate relocating to California summer of 2022.
My Background…
I’ve worn many hats (and wigs!) in life, earning the reputation as someone who can rise to the occasion with a story to tell. I served in the US Air Force for six years, working in Cyber Systems Operations. All the while, I continued my love for writing and literature by earning a Bachelors of Science in English. When I was once again a civilian, I taught Kindergarten-7th grade Computer Science in Indianapolis. Outside of teaching, I was founding Indianapolis’ chapter of Drag Queen Story Hour, which grew to be the largest in the midwest. I’m now the manager of a thriving CBD store, and operating a small business has been a unique education in and of itself. My family is excited to relocate to California for the warmer weather and new opportunities.

During my time as a teacher…
I taught 460+ students computer science, coding, graphic design, social media promotion, and internet safety. Aside from the relevant educational software used, I became proficient in using Microsoft Office and Google G Suite. As a proud queer person, I organized and led a Gay/Straight Alliance club for 9-12th grade students. Being known as “Mr. B” was my greatest privilege.
I’ve taken my love for tech, kids, and the English language and channeled them into community service through my book-loving, southern diva alter-ego…
